Backpack and School Supplies

You may be wondering why your child would need a backpack and school supplies, especially if they are going to be spending most of their day playing. A backpack will end up serving many different purposes for your child. They will need a variety of different items that we will discuss below, and a backpack is a great way to keep them all together without you having to worry about them getting lost.

As for school supplies, most of the items your child will need will be provided by the school. However, they may request that you send your child with their own set of markers or coloring utensils, as well as certain items that the childcare providers will collect and use to stock their classroom.

Lunch and Snacks

If your child is only attending preschool part-time or for only half of the day, then you probably only have to worry about making sure they have a morning or afternoon snack. That being said, if your child is attending preschool for the entire day, then you will need to make sure to pack them a nutritional lunch.

Before you send your little one to school, make sure you talk to the preschool about their food policy. Some schools will provide a morning and afternoon snack so that you only have to worry about packing a lunch. Additionally, you will want to know if they have any food restrictions. Some children may have severe food allergies, and the school might advise you against packing that food in your child’s lunch.

A Change of Clothes

Young children are clumsy, and they don’t always have the best control over their body yet, especially if they are having fun. As you can imagine — and have probably experienced — this can lead to accidents. Whether your child fell in a puddle while they were playing on the playground, or they were too busy having fun with their new friends and forgot to go to the bathroom, you want to make sure your little one is prepared with a backup set of clothes.

The best way to send your child with a spare set of clothes is to place them in a resealable bag inside their backpack. The reason for this is because children don’t always pay attention to what they throw in their backpack, and one day your little one might accidentally throw a wet painting or a juice box in their bag without thinking. Sealing up the clothes in a resealable bag will keep them safe from anything that comes their way so that they are ready in case your kiddo needs them.

Important Documents

When your enroll your child in preschool, you will most likely have to fill out a lot of paperwork. While you may be able to fill out most of it during enrollment, there might be a few papers that you will need to take home and send with your little one on their first day of school. If that’s the case, then you will want to place the documents in your child’s backpack so that they will make it to the school. That being said, it’s no secret that children aren’t the best at remembering to do things, so if you’re worried that your little one will forget to turn in the papers, it may be best to simply turn them in when you drop your child off.
